Course Description: Unexpected challenges are common in Endodontics. This course reviewes practical strategies to prevent, recognize and manage common procedure complications, helping clinicians improve decision- making, reduce procedure errors, and achieve more predictable outcomes.
Speaker Bio:Dr. John Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam and spent his early years in both Saigon and Melbourne, Australia prior to moving to Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, summa cum laude, and a minor in Mathematics. Dr. Tran subsequently pursued his dental training at UIC College of Dentistry, where he earned his DMD degree. During dental school, Dr. Tran received various academic and clinical awards and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) dental honor society. Dr. Tran also received the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholarship, allowing him an opportunity to provide comprehensive dental care for the underserved population by the Illinois-Wisconsin border for three years. He returned to UIC College of Dentistry to obtain a Specialty Certificate in Endodontics and a Masters in Oral Sciences.
Dr. Tran is a Diplomate (Board Certified member) of the American Board of Endodontics. He is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Endodontists, the Edgar D. Coolidge Endodontic Study Club, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. He is maintaining a part-time teaching position as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics at UIC College of Dentistry.
Outside of practicing endodontics, Dr. Tran enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, and playing classical piano. He and his wife (who is also an endodontist) have four lovely Maltese dogs named Jazz, Blues, Elton, and Quincy.
