Speaker Bio: Dr. Hamel grew up in the central Illinois town of Mattoon. His mentor was Dr. William Podesta, his family dentist. Working in Dr. Podesta’s office and his dental lab for two summers inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry. He then attended the University of Illinois at Champaign/ Urbana and the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He excelled in dental school, realizing it was the perfect profession for his attention to detail, patience, and desire to serve others.

Dr. Hamel has enjoyed a thriving practice for over three decades because he listens and helps patients make informed choices about their dental health. Treatment decisions are made in consultation with the patient to ensure they are right for them. He loves dentistry and is constantly pursuing continuing education as both a teacher and a student. He combines today’s advanced dentistry with old-fashioned relationships. Our name is on the business because it is our family taking care of yours. When Dr. Hamel is not practicing at the office, he is a volunteer, active in the community, a public speaker, an avid participant in organized dentistry, and helps his aging father. Dr. Hamel loves spending time with his grandsons and traveling with his wife. He also delights in the technical precision of racing cars and finds sheer joy in competing for plastic trophies.
