SPMC (Scientific Program Management Committee)
Structure and Composition
The SPMC is comprised of twelve (12) members. Annually, the CDS President-Elect, Secretary, and Vice President shall appoint the Committee Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary, respectively. Each of these three CDS Officers shall also appoint two additional members to the committee. Three additional positions have been added for a general call for volunteer application process.
Each SPMC member will serve a three-year term, while open-call volunteer members will serve a one-year term.

Committee Goals and Duties
Workshop Preparation Team
As determined by the Director of Scientific Programs:
Presiding Chair Orientation Team Duties
- Distribute information packets to the Presiding Chairs.
- Ensure the Presiding Chairs sign the attendance roster.
- Obtain replacements from the Scientific Program Office if necessary.
- Conduct an orientation session to prepare the Presiding Chairs.
Student/Room Chair Orientation Team Duties
- Distribute packets to Room Chairs.
- Ensure students sign the attendance roster.
- Reassign Room Chairs as needed for coverage.
- Distribute course scanners to students at morning orientation.
- Hand out scouting chair covers in classrooms on Wednesday.
- Conduct an orientation session to prepare the Room Chairs.
After the Action Team activities, Committee members will take assigned hall positions to help attendees find course rooms and other information.
Meeting and Time Commitment
The committee will meet with the Director of Scientific Programs each January to discuss changes to the program structure, suggestions from the previous year’s MWM Critique Session, and any other program issues. MWM Daily Action Teams will be assigned, and duties identified for onsite. Committee members receive a per diem for each day of service as well as complimentary housing (Tuesday through Saturday) at the MWM headquarters hotel. The total time commitment is four days.
MWM Daily Action Teams will remain together throughout the MWM from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day of the Meeting or as advised by the Director of Scientific Programs. Attendance is mandatory.
