Scientific Program Course Committee (SPCC)

Committee Purpose
The Scientific Programs Course Committee serves as standby support and backup for the presiding chairs in the event of no-shows, and additional support for the Program Office and Speaker Ready Room. This Committee remains on call throughout the three days.
Structure and Composition
Each CDS Board Director appoints two (2) members from the nine branches. The terms shall be staggered so that approximately one-third of the appointments will change yearly. They will report to the CDS Scientific Programs Staff on their assigned day.

Committee Goals

  • To provide necessary back-up support to the Scientific Programs’ overall responsibilities as directed
  • On-call support for absent presiding chairs and other relevant volunteer personnel

    • Meeting and Time Commitment

    The committee will report to the onsite Scientific Programs Office on their assigned day during the Midwinter Meeting. Their responsibilities include replacing Presiding or Room Chairs who are absent or unable to fulfill their duties in a course room and assisting in the Program Office with activities at the discretion of the CDS staff. Committee members receive a per diem for each day of service. The total time commitment is one-two days. Daily on-site activities for the Midwinter Meeting take place from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
