Treasurer to the Board

The Chicago Dental Society is seeking qualified members to apply for the open call for Treasurer position on the Board of Directors.

CDS Bylaws:

The Credentialing Committee will recommend one or more qualified candidate(s) to the Board of Directors to stand for election to fill the Treasurer position that is either vacant or set to expire. The Board of Directors will review the Credentialing Committee’s recommended slate and present all qualified candidate(s) to the Voting Members of the Society for election to the Board of Directors in accordance with such procedures as shall be adopted by the Board of Directors. In the event the Credentialing Committee receives more than one qualified candidate to run for the elected office, the Society will hold a contested election in accordance with such rules and procedures as may be adopted by the Board of Directors.

CDS Policy:

  • Candidates for CDS Treasurer must have previously served as a member of the CDS Board of Directors for a minimum of two years prior to their election as an officer.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current CDS tripartite active, retired and/or life member dentist.
  • Member in good standing with dues paid and abide by the Bylaws and all policies, rules, and regulations of the Society.

Nominating Process:

  • On a rotational basis (see current rotation model at end of this section), the LDGs shall submit 1or more names to the CDS Credentialing Committee for the position of CDS Treasurer. The Credentialing Committee will vet the candidate and submit the vetted candidate to the CDS Board of Directors for their approval. Upon approval by the CDS Board, the candidate may stand for election at a CDS annual meeting as determined by the Board.
  • In addition, any number of Active members in good standing, but not less than fifty (50), may nominate a candidate by petition in writing for the position of CDS Treasurer, provided that no person shall be nominated without their consent.
    • Petitions: Nominating petitions shall be in writing, setting forth the name or names of the candidate or candidates for the position of CDS Treasurer, with the signatures of the members so nominating. Such petitions, together with evidence of consent from the nominee or nominees, shall be filed with the secretary or the office of the society, and a receipt shall be issued therefore, the date of receipt to be deemed the official date of filing. All such petitions must be submitted not less than sixty (60) days prior to the annual election.
  • Credentialing Committee to review candidates and recommend candidates to Board of Directors who will review and present all qualified candidates to the Voting Members of the Society.
