Member Engagement Committee

Committee Purpose

The Member Engagement Committee (MEC) will:

  • Work with the CDS Marketing and Communications team to bring the information needed to support recruitment and retention.
  • Foster collaborative networking between members.
  • Study and determine dentists’ current needs and concerns. Monitor, review, and assist in the mentorship with participating local dental programs.
  • Foster collaboration that develops member initiatives and volunteer opportunities for involvement with the Midwinter Meeting.
  • Participate in and organize community outreach programs, services, and activities that will increase brand awareness.

Structure and Composition
The Member Engagement Committee is a committee of a minimum of seven (7) members, one of whom is the Board Liaison. A minimum of six (6) and a maximum of nine (9) positions have been added for a general call for volunteer applications. Each MEC member will serve a one-to two-year term.

Committee Goals

BRANCH INVOLVEMENT

  • Study and make recommendations in response to the unmet needs and concerns of members.
  • Provide communication to and from the branches to support event participation and increase branch engagement.
  • Participate in the annual branch leadership orientation.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • To develop and execute community programs that align with the mission of CDS.

PEER-TO-PEER INTERACTION

  • Work alongside the Early Career Dentist Committee to support a mentorship program.
  • Provide oversight and feedback on CDS events and programs to support and increase member value.
  • Foster branch-to-branch leadership interaction.
  • Support online member communities.

Meeting and Time Commitment

Meeting 
The committee meets quarterly either in-person at CDS headquarters in Chicago or virtually. Attendance at two meetings is mandatory, but participation at all meetings is encouraged. Members of task forces may meet additionally to work on specific projects. 

Time Commitment 
A committee member can be expected to spend approximately two to three hours per month on committee-related activities.
