General Arrangements Committee (GAC)

Committee Purpose
The General Arrangements Committee (GAC) shall:

  • Serve as ambassadors for the Midwinter Meeting (MWM)
  • Provide information and directional assistance to MWM attendees by staffing the Information Desks throughout the facility
  • Provide guidance using the mobile app and digital assistance in each of the course hallways
  • Assist CDS with welcoming participants at various social and networking events
  • Coordinate with staff and various convention service groups on any matters brought to the Committee’s attention, including housekeeping, audio-video/equipment problems, heating-ventilation issues, security, etc.
  • Direct attendees to Security for lost and found items
  • Assist in the operation of EXPERIENCE CDS Booth located on the exhibit floor for a designated time slot as time permits
    • Structure and Composition

    The General Arrangements Committee shall consist of twelve members.

    Each year, the CDS President-Elect, Secretary, and Vice President shall appoint the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary, respectively.

    In addition, the nine branches shall have one representative appointed to this committee for three years by the Branch Director. The branch appointment terms shall be staggered so that one-third of the branch appointments will be subject to change each year. Branch appointments are limited to two three-year terms.

    Meeting and Time Commitment

    Appointment to the committee requires a part-time commitment which will enable members of this committee to participate in the Midwinter Meeting Scientific Program, and Special Events, during one day of the MWM. Committee members receive a per diem for each day of service as well as complimentary housing (Wednesday through Saturday) at the MWM headquarters hotel. The total time commitment is four days.

    The Chair may also call planning meetings any time during the year, which all members must attend.
