Finance Committee
Committee Purpose
To oversee the wealth management, investments, and financial portfolio of Society funds, while protecting the principal of any specific account to the best possible extent. To enhance the Society’s financial position annually. To present the mid-year budget, review projections, and the ensuing fiscal year budget. The committee will also meet with the wealth managers and auditors approved by the Board to ensure the integrity of all financial statements.

Structure and Composition
The President will appoint Director members of this committee. The Finance Committee includes the Treasurer and three Directors from the Board: one senior Director, one sophomore Director, and one freshman Director. The incoming President makes the freshman appointment annually. The Sr. Director serves as the Chair of the committee.

Committee Goals
- Oversight of the annual budget.
- Review fiscal policy statements, investments, and expenditures; this committee will make recommendations on all requests for special appropriations and on all recommendations of the Treasurer for additional budget appropriations. The committee shall limit the report to a statement of the effect of such proposed expenditures on the Society’s financial position.
- The breakdown of account balances held by CDS at financial institutions is to be reported at each Board meeting by the Treasurer.
- The Treasurer will be a voting member of this committee.
- The committee will meet regularly with the appropriate staff member(s) to review and monitor society’s fiscal affairs.
- The Finance Committee will review the Society’s budget bi-annually.
- The Chair of the Finance Committee and the Society Treasurer will annually conduct an open review of individual staff salaries.
- The Finance Committee will evaluate and recommend partnership and affinity programs for the entire membership.
- The Finance Committee will review the Society’s investments and address financial experiences observed in the global market.
Meeting:
The committee will meet regularly with the relevant staff members to review and monitor the society’s financial affairs.
