Help Preserve the Legacy of the Chicago Dental Society
CDS Historian
The Chicago Dental Society is seeking a volunteer Historian to assist with a special archival project focused on preserving and organizing the Society’s rich history. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys research, organization, and storytelling while helping ensure our history is preserved for future generations.
Deadline for submission is October 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
The volunteer Historian will work alongside CDS staff to:
- Catalog and organize historical photographs, publications, and memorabilia from significant Society events.
- Document the history of CDS leadership, including Past Presidents and other notable leaders.
- Research and catalog significant milestones and historical events throughout the Society’s history.
- Develop a commemorative historical publication highlighting the legacy of CDS Past Presidents.
- Assist in organizing archival materials to support future historical preservation efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in history, archives, or historical preservation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with CDS staff.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Dental Society’s history is preferred, but not required.
Time Commitment:
Volunteer Term:
January 1, 2027 – March 31, 2027
Time Commitment:
- Volunteer access to the CDS offices on Mondays and Thursdays
- Flexible hours during office access days
