Call For Volunteers

The Chicago Dental Society is currently seeking volunteers for the newly established Credentialing Committee.
Charge of The Credentialing Committee:
The Credentialing Committee is charged with seeking interested candidates from the voting members of the Society and will review all applications received.

The committee will review candidates’ eligibility and qualifications to ensure they align with the strategic direction of CDS and examine the skills and characteristics required of candidates.

Credentialing Committee Responsibilities and Composition

Responsibilities:

  • The Credentialing Committee will review one or more qualified individuals to:
    • Run for the CDS Treasurer-elect position whose term is vacant or set to expire at the end of each fiscal year and present such qualified candidates to the Board for its review prior to the submission of such a candidate to the Voting Members of the Society.
    • Review candidates for the Society’s ISDS Trustees (the “Society ISDS Trustee”) and present such qualified candidates to the Board of Directors.
    • Review candidates for the Society’s appointed Delegates to the American Dental Association House of Delegates (“Society ADA Delegate”) and present such qualified candidates to the Board of Directors.
  • The Credentialing Committee will submit the qualified slate of candidates for the position of Treasurer to the Voting Members of the Society on the schedule determined by the Board of Directors for vote and election(s).
  • The Credentialing Committee will receive from each Branch Society one or more qualified candidates for the Board of Directors to stand for election to fill each Branch Director seat on the Board of Directors that is either vacant or set to expire (“Branch Director Slate”). The approved Branch Directors slate will be moved back to the respective Branch to stand for election by the Branch members.

Composition & Term:

  • The Credentialing Committee consists of the Society’s current President, the Society’s two (2) immediate past Presidents, four (4) at-large members (one of whom must be an early career/new dentist under the age of 40), and the Secretary, who will serve as a non-voting ex-officio member of the Credentialing Committee and will not be counted towards establishing a quorum.
  • Members of the Credentialing Committee are ineligible to stand for election or appointment to any position to be reviewed by the Credentialing Committee.
  • At-Large members of the Credentialing Committee may not be current members of the CDS Board of Directors, will serve a one-year term, and may not serve more than two (2) consecutive terms on the Credentialing Committee.

Appointment of At-Large Credentialing Committee Members:

  • The At-Large Credentialing Committee Members will be appointed by the nine (9) Branch Directors and the New Dentist Director serving on the CDS Board of Directors in accordance with such procedures as may be adopted by the Board of Directors.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Current CDS tripartite active, retired and/or life member dentist
  • Member in good standing with dues paid and abide by the Bylaws and all policies, rules, and regulations of the Society
  • Minimum of five (5) years diverse dental leadership experience (minimum three (3) years diverse dental leadership experience for the early career/new dentist). Dental leadership experience includes but is not limited to the following examples:
    • CDS Director, Branch Officer or Committee member, Standing or MWM Officer/Committee member
    • ISDS Trustee, Committee member or ADA Council or Commission member
    • ISDS/ADA Delegate/Alternate Delegate
    • May include other diverse dental organizations and group experiences (i.e. ASDA, Leadership Development Groups, Dental Arts, Arcolian Club, National Dental Association, Hispanic Dental Association, Indian Dental Association, Hellenic Dental Association, etc.)
  • Statement of intent describing reasons for your interest and qualifications to serve on the Credentialing Committee
  • Current CV not to exceed 2 pages.
