Illinois Dentists Salute Our Veterans!

A message from the Illinois State Dental Society:

It’s time for Illinois dentists to turn the tide on oral health care for veterans in need.

Neglected dental needs cause unbearable pain, difficulty eating, and life threatening infections for our veterans.  This problem is widespread, and the treatment is underfunded—or not funded at all. Unfortunately, most of our brave veterans return home to discover that they do not qualify for any government coverage for dental services unless they are 100% disabled, a POW, or the dental issue is service-related.

The dentists of the Illinois State Dental Society want to show our veterans that we care.  On Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th, we ask you to open your dental office to veterans in need.

The goal of our Illinois Dentists Salute initiative is to enlist 3,000 dentists to set aside one to five appointments on Veteran’s Day, providing the capacity to serve 15,000 veterans statewide.  Participating dentists will provide no cost, critically needed dental services for these selfless men and women who served our country.  Treatment will focus on cleanings, restorations and extractions only.

How can you get involved?  Visit our dedicated website, www.IllinoisDentistsSalute.org, and sign up today

To log in and sign up, simply enter the following information:

Username:     Your ADA Number

Password:      ISDS2017$

NOTE: When you complete your registration, it is IMPERATIVE that you provide us with the OFFICE ADDRESS where you will be treating veterans on November 11, AND the PHONE NUMBER where the veteran can contact you if there is a scheduling conflict.  Your e-mail address will not be shared with anyone; it is strictly for ISDS to contact you if we need further information on your registration.

Later this summer, Illinois veterans will be able to schedule appointments with participating dental offices through the Illinois Dentists Salute website, but we need to have a sufficient number of dentists signed up before promoting this program to our veterans.  Let’s have a big showing of Illinois dentists helping Illinois veterans.

Help improve the overall health and quality of life for our veterans in need—right in the comfort of your own dental office.  The selfless act of serving our country deserves the highest level of respect and gratitude we can offer.

Thank you for volunteering!
