Robert Unger honored with Weclew Award

Robert Unger, 94, long-time member of the Chicago Dental Society, is the recipient of  the International College of Dentists Weclew Award.

Dr. Unger’s son, Joseph, who is a CDS member and past president of Illinois State Dental Society, accepted the award for his father. The award ceremony took place  at the American College of Dentists and International College of Dentists joint luncheon, held during the Midwinter Meeting.

George Zehak, past CDS president, who presented the award, said Dr. Unger was dedicated to the profession, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Dental Association, Vice President of ADA and president of ISDS as well as many other posts.

Dr. Zehak pointed out Dr. Robert Unger went to church every day before opening his dental office. He added that for 25 years Dr. Unger devoted one day per week to doing volunteer dentistry.
