She has held academic positions at the University of Iowa\, Creighton University and the University of Illinois Chicago. While at the University of Illinois Chicago\, she earned an MPH in health policy and administration\, and taught general pathology and oral pathology to dental students\, in addition to her clinical role as Head of the Oral Medicine Clinic.\nDr. Miloro’s research interests include oral cancer and the application of brush biopsy tissue collection with miRNA analysis in the differentiation of oral squamous cell carcinoma from other oral mucosal disorders. DESCRIPTION:Credit Hours: 3 Hours\nCourse Title: Head and Neck Cancer: From Diagnosis to Survival\nSpeakers: Dr. Nicholas Callahan\, MPH\, DMD\, MD\nLocation: Renaissance Chicago O’Hare \nCourse Description: This lecture walks the dental provider through the entire head and neck cancer journey. It begins with what to look for during the clinical exam\, including which red and white lesions are considered high risk. Dentists are on the front line of early diagnosis of head and neck cancer; however\, once a lesion is identified\, what happens during the diagnostic workup and treatment process is often unclear. This presentation will demystify that process by reviewing the standard metastatic workup\, as well as the surgical and non-surgical treatment options for patients with head and neck cancer. The lecture will conclude with a discussion of long-term outcomes and potential sequelae of treatment that dental providers may encounter in clinical practice. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Discuss which high-risk lesions in the oral cavity require immediate referral or treatment\n2. Review the standard of care for the treatment of head and neck cancer\n3. Discuss the side effects of head and neck cancer treatment\, with particular attention to osteoradionecrosis \nSpeaker Bio: Dr. Nicholas Callahan is an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Most recently\, Dr. Callahan completed a Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Maryland at Baltimore Medical Center. \nHe received his medical school education and General Surgery training at SUNY Downstate\, and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn\, New York. He attended the University of Pittsburgh School\, of Dental Medicine for his dental school training\, and also received his Masters of Public Health degree at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. \nDr. Nicholas Callahan is a surgeon in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at UI Health. Dr. Callahan specializes in treating patients with both benign and malignant pathologies of the head and neck. He specializes in both removal of tumors and reconstructions of the defects\, and he also manages maxillofacial trauma. \nDr. Callahan is educated both in medicine and dentistry\, and he is fellowship-trained in head and neck oncologic surgery and microvascular surgery.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California\, San Diego. He received both his Medical and Dental degrees from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and School of Dentistry\, respectively. He completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical training at the University of Maryland Medical Center / R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center\, which is recognized as a center of excellence in the specialty. \nHe is a full-time faculty member and the program director at Cook County Health within the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Although the common soft tissue lesions of the head and neck do not always carry significant morbidity\, the clinician must be able to successfully differentiated these from the more serious conditions of this region. The format of the lecture will emphasize the development of reasonable differential diagnoses for each lesion presented. \nSpeaker Bio: Mark W. Lingen is an internationally recognized oral pathologist\, clinician-scientist\, and educator whose work has significantly advanced the early detection\, diagnosis\, and prevention of oral cancer. He currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at University of Messina-Italy\, Near East University-TRN Cyprus\, Lokman Hekim University-Turkey and Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University-Turkey. She was fascinated by her teeth moving into place to have a nice smile! It took 3.5 years\, but once they were off\, she knew dentistry was for her. The oldest of four\, Dr. Poskozim grew up in Park Ridge and graduated from Maine South in 1990. She then attended Marquette University in Milwaukee\, WI because this college had a dental school on campus. Joy sat in one dental class and was hooked. New York University College of Dentistry became the school for her\, staying in New York City for 6 years. She completed a General Practice Residency in 2000 at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn\, NY\, then worked in Manhattan for one year. After working at various general dental practices in the Chicagoland area for two years\, she settled at a family practice in LakeView for four years as a cosmetic dental associate. In 2006\, Dr. Poskozim found a practice in the Sauganash area of Chicago on the Northwest Side. \n\nJoyful Dental Care was named “2010 Corporate Citizen of the Year” by the Lincolnwood Chamber of Commerce. Davis D.D.S. \nRSVP deadline is March 4th.  \nCourse Description: Cracked teeth prevalence is on the rise and most of our adult patients have at least one cracked posterior tooth. Proper management of cracked and fractured teeth is nuanced\, and much confusion abounds in the literature on how to approach these cases. Which cracked teeth can be monitored and which ones require intervention? What is the prognosis of endodontically crowned cracked teeth? Is there any hope for teeth with vertical root fractures? Is extraction and implant a better option than treating cracked teeth? This presentation will bring some evidence-based clarity to these questions and present ways that may significantly increase our successes in treating and saving more compromised teeth. \nSpeaker Bio: Dr. Matthew Davis is a board-certified endodontist in private practice in Winnetka\, Illinois. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1999 and completed his specialty training in endodontics there in 2001. He has been in full-time private practice for twenty-five years and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2010. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has served on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics for over fifteen years. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Tran\, DMD\, MS. \nThe South Suburban Branch welcomes Southwest Branch members to their 2026-2027 Branch Season! \nCourse Description: Unexpected challenges are common in Endodontics. This course reviewes practical strategies to prevent\, recognize and manage common procedure complications\, helping clinicians improve decision- making\, reduce procedure errors\, and achieve more predictable outcomes. \nSpeaker Bio:Dr. John Tran was born in Saigon\, Vietnam and spent his early years in both Saigon and Melbourne\, Australia prior to moving to Chicago. He attended the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences\, summa cum laude\, and a minor in Mathematics. Dr. Tran subsequently pursued his dental training at UIC College of Dentistry\, where he earned his DMD degree. During dental school\, Dr. Tran received various academic and clinical awards and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) dental honor society. Dr. Tran also received the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) scholarship\, allowing him an opportunity to provide comprehensive dental care for the underserved population by the Illinois-Wisconsin border for three years. He returned to UIC College of Dentistry to obtain a Specialty Certificate in Endodontics and a Masters in Oral Sciences. \nDr. Tran is a Diplomate (Board Certified member) of the American Board of Endodontics. He is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Endodontists\, the Edgar D. Coolidge Endodontic Study Club\, American Dental Association\, Illinois State Dental Society\, and the Chicago Dental Society. He is maintaining a part-time teaching position as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics at UIC College of Dentistry. \nOutside of practicing endodontics\, Dr. Tran enjoys traveling\, hiking\, cooking\, and playing classical piano. He and his wife (who is also an endodontist) have four lovely Maltese dogs named Jazz\, Blues\, Elton\, and Quincy. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Identify common endodontic complications.\n2.
