DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, January 13\, at Exmoor Country Club\, located at 700 Vine Ave\, Highland Park as we unpack the latest trend in the dental profession. \nBhavik Desai\, DMD\, PhD\, will present “Airway Dentistry”. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and program at 7 p.m. \nSpeaker Bio:  Dr. Bhavik Desai is a certified expert in oral medicine. He treats pain in the face and jaw\, mouth sores\, and sleep apnea using oral devices. The founder and clinical director of Oral Medicine of Wisconsin\, his practice focuses on diagnosing and treating complex oral issues\, including jaw and facial pain\, mouth sores\, and sleep-related breathing problems. He holds both a DMD and a PhD\, providing him with practical experience and scientific knowledge for patient care. Dr. Desai cares for his patients with kindness and thoughtfulness. He utilizes the latest diagnostic tests and listens attentively to his patients. People appreciate his understanding of chronic pain and his commitment to finding solutions for conditions that are often overlooked in regular dental and medical practices. \nHe completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine\, specializing in Oral Medicine. Dr. Desai treats patients with complex medical needs\, including cancer patients\, those receiving chemotherapy or radiation\, and individuals needing dental care before heart surgery. His skills include managing mouth sores\, facial pain (such as TMJ disorders\, burning mouth syndrome\, and nerve pain)\, and sleep apnea. He also helps with movement disorders\, salivary gland issues\, and dry mouth. During his residency\, he gained experience in various medical fields\, including neuroradiology\, internal medicine\, oncology\, anesthesia\, pain management\, and oral and maxillofacial surgery. \nDr. Desai earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008. He also received his PhD from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in the same year. His research focused on how specific molecules facilitate the spread of cancer cells\, particularly in prostate cancer. He studied biochemistry\, molecular biology\, cellular biology\, signal transduction\, biostatistics\, and research writing.
