Midwinter Meeting

The 145th Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting | February 25-27, 2010

The Midwinter Meeting annually offers one of the largest dental exhibitions in the United States. Nearly 600 manufacturers, dealers, suppliers and labs will participate in the 2010 Midwinter Meeting. Many exhibitors use the Midwinter Meeting as the setting for new product introductions and offer special incentives during the Midwinter Meeting.

We invite you to return to Chicago in 2010, when the Midwinter Meeting moves to the new McCormick Place West Building for a three-day event. The commercial exhibition and scientific program will be held Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 25-27.

See our YouTube video and hear from dentists and exhibitors about what draws them to the Chicago Dental Society's Midwinter Meeting each year. Also, find out what innovations to expect at the 2010 meeting!

2010 Midwinter Meeting Honorees

Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award recipient

Dr. Samuel Low is the 2010 recipient of the Gordon J. Christensen Recognition Lecturer Award.

Established in 1990, the award acknowledges Dr. Christensen’s many outstanding contributions to the dental profession and the Midwinter Meeting. Dr. Low will receive the Christensen Award during the Opening Session Thursday, Feb. 25, for his many contributions to the profession.

Cushing Award recipient

The George Cushing Award recognizes those who raise public awareness about the importance of oral health. The award is bestowed by the Communications Committee of the Chicago Dental Society.

The 2010 Cushing Award winner is Illinois General Assemblywoman Cynthia Soto, the Democratic representative for the fourth district. A longtime advocate of dentistry, Rep. Soto spearheaded the effort to expand Erie Family Health Center to include a dental clinic, which opened in 2007 and now serves more than 8,000 people each year. Rep. Soto has also been fundamental in obtaining funding for dental services throughout the state. She was awarded Erie's first Golden Toothbrush Award in winter 2009 for her commitment to improving oral health in Illinois.

Past recipients include former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher; Dr. Burton Edelstein, founder of the Children’s Dental Health Project; Dr. Linda Niessen and Ms. Sara Ivey for their television program “Dental Health Minute,“ and Dr. Steven Perlman, founder of the Special Smiles program at Special Olympics.
