Bioterrorism Information and Resources

For Professionals : Professional News and Articles : Bioterrorism Information and Resources

The Disaster Emergency Medicine Readiness Training (DEMRT) Center of the University of Illinois College of Dentistry compiled the following list of emergency preparedness and continuing education resources for dentists and other health professionals. Information found at these sights is intended to equip dentists for a variety of situations, ranging from the identification and reporting of new diseases found chairside to the standard operating procedures employed during large-scale emergency situations.

Some of the links below serve to connect dentists to continuing education opportunities centered on emergency preparedness and bioterrorism, as well as volunteer opportunities for those interested in participating in emergency response teams.

Dentists and their staffs are encouraged to browse these links at their leisure, and post them in a conspicuous place of the office. DEMRT director Dr. Michael Colvard further recommends that dentists acquire a copy of the Control of Communicable Disease Manual (18th Ed.), available from the American Public Health Association Web site, http://www.apha.org.
