Incorporated in 1878, the Chicago Dental Society represents more than 4,000 dentists in the metropolitan Chicago area. Its mission is to represent the interests of dentists, promote the art and science of dentistry, and advocate for improving oral health for all. The society is the largest local affiliate of the Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
The Chicago Dental Society holds an annual conference, the Midwinter Meeting, in February in Chicago. The 2009 Midwinter Meeting drew more than 31,000 attendees and more than $53 million to the city of Chicago. Attendees included more than 7,000 dentists.
Each year, more than 600 exhibitors participate in the meeting, creating one of the largest exhibits of dental products and manufacturers in North America.
The meeting is among the top three dental meetings in the U.S. and one of the top 20 conventions in Chicago. The meeting is also among the top five consumer trade shows in Chicago. According to Expo magazine, the Midwinter Meeting is among the top four health care tradeshows in the country.
The theme for the 2010 Midwinter Meeting is "Go West, CDS." The 145th meeting will be held February 25-27, at McCormick Place's new West Building in Chicago.
A tradition of working for the dental profession. The Chicago Dental Society was organized in 1864 and incorporated in 1878. The objective of the Chicago Dental Society is to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the intrest of the members of the profession and the public that it serves.
