This February, the Chicago Dental Society surveyed 305 area residents to find out how the economy is affecting their choices about dental care and learn more about their dental health. On the economy's impact on their personal dental care:
Unsurprisingly, people who do not have dental insurance were more likely to put off seeing a dentist in 2009 and are also more likely to have concerns with their dental health.Perhaps surprisingly, though, is that patients with insurance are not only more likely to visit the dentist, but they are also more likely to take care of their teeth, through activities like brushing and flossing.
The survey was conducted for the Chicago Dental Society's 144th annual Midwinter Meeting, which will bring more than 30,000 dental professionals to Chicago this February. The Midwinter Meeting is a forum for dentists to learn about new products, technologies, and methods.
A tradition of working for the dental profession. The Chicago Dental Society was organized in 1864 and incorporated in 1878. The objective of the Chicago Dental Society is to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the intrest of the members of the profession and the public that it serves.
