Michael Durbin, DDS, MS, an orthodontist who practices in Des Plaines and Long Grove, was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Durbin was installed as a board member during a ceremony held on Sunday, November 14, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. His term will commence in January 2005.
The society, which was established in 1864, has more than 4,100 members in Cook, Lake and DuPage Counties, making it the largest local society of the American Dental Association. Dr. Durbin will represent the northwest suburban branch of the society.
Dr. Durbin received his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, where he also completed his orthodontic training.
He is active in the Des Plaines Lions Club, most recently serving as a director. He has also coached for the Prospect Heights Youth Baseball League and served as a Cubmaster for the Boy Scouts of America.
He resides in Prospect Heights with his wife Dr. Renee Pappas, who is also a dentist, and their two children, Kristen and Peter.

The objective of the Chicago Dental Society is to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the intrest of the members of the profession and the public that it serves.
