Nearly 700 Midwinter Meeting attendees have already downloaded our 2013 Midwinter Meeting App. It’s free, and currently available for all smartphones and tablets.

If you’ve already downloaded it (and deleted the old App, with its gray icon), we hope you’ll spend some time this weekend playing around with its features. We know at least one attendee already has.

CDS staff received this question from an attendee this week:

I've had the app for a while.  It seems to do nothing for me....When selecting "your courses" nothing but the calendar appears.  Shouldn't my registered courses appear?

If you’re finding the same thing, don’t despair. The courses you have tickets for will not automatically appear in your App because the Midwinter Meeting mobile App isn’t linked to our registration system. Attendees must search in the App for the courses they plan to attend (search by day, topic or speaker) and tap on the flag to the right of the course title. A red flag will make the course appear in your calendar in the App.

Do this now (say, between commercials during Sunday’s football game) to save time and frustration during the Midwinter Meeting. Upon arriving, you’ll be able to tap “Your Favorites” and “Your Course Schedule” to quickly find the times and locations of your chosen destinations.

See you at McCormick Place West!

Permanent link  Support Healthy Kids with $15 today

If you’re thinking about National Children’s Dental Health Month, you’re not alone. The Chicago Dental Society Foundation has plans, too, for the Healthy Kids Brush Up! program – and they need your help.

This campaign puts toothbrushes, toothpaste and volunteer dentists in local classrooms to encourage better oral hygiene habits among students. Nearly 200 schools will receive more than 56,000 toothbrushes next month — paid for in part by donations from our CDS members and other friends of the CDS Foundation.

Help us extend the program through your donation today. Your $15 gift will provide a whole classroom with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and educational materials to make them meaningful.

Please donate now. And share the link on your Facebook Page and Twitter feed to further our fundraising efforts.

(The fundraising page also has buttons in the upper right hand corner to help you share the page via email to your friends and associates or on your Pinterest page, but we don't want to be greedy...)

Do you wonder how social media tools like Facebook and Twitter can benefit your practice?

Wonder no more! Together with, CDS is hosting a Meetup on the first day of the Midwinter Meeting-Thursday, February 24. We invite you to register for one of the two sessions to be held in Room W474A, the press conference room in McCormick Place's West Building.

We're bringing dentists together with two noted experts to discuss how social media can affect--and help--your dental practice.

Dr. Jason Lipscomb (@SocialMediaDent) and Dr. Marty Jablow (@jablow) will both share their insight and expertise in working social media into dental practices.

In addition, attendees will be entered in a prize drawing to win a copy of Dr. Lipscomb's book, Social Media for Dentists.

Register today for one of the sessions and leave a question or two in the comments that we can pass along to the experts before the event.
